Fabrication with Stainless 310/310S

Type 310/310S is readily fabricated by standard commercial procedures. In comparison to carbon steel, stainless steels are tougher and tend to work harden rapidly.

Type 310/310S can be welded using all of the common welding processes.

310 Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes and Tubes is sleeved into plastic bag individually, ten pieces wrapped with water-proof material, bundled with nylon rope. Clear labels are tagged on the outside of the package for easy identification of the quantity and product I.D. Great care is taken during operation and transportation.

Scaling:
The scaling temperature show for 310 stainless is the temperature at which the oxidation speed in size corresponds to a metal loss off 0.1mm during the first year of oxidation in still air. In an oxidising and reducing sulphurous atmosphere the scaling temperature is lowered.

Corrosion Resistance of 310 Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes
The high chromium content - intended to increase high temperature properties - also gives these grades good aqueous corrosion resistance. The PRE is approximately 25, and seawater resistance about 22°C, similar to that of Grade 316. Excellent resistance at normal temperatures, and when in high temperature service exhibits good resistance to oxidizing and carburizing atmospheres. Resists fuming nitric acid at room temperature and fused nitrates up to 425°C. Subject to stress corrosion cracking but more resistant than Grades 304 or 316.

Heat Treatment of 310 Stainless Steel Pipes and Tubes
Solution Treatment (Annealing) - heat to 1040-1150°C and cool rapidly for maximum corrosion resistance. This treatment is also recommended to restore ductility after each 1000 hours of service above 650°C, due to long term precipitation of brittle sigma phase. These grades cannot be hardened by thermal treatment.
